My new pig
Hey guys! Long time no post over here. I've been out of the Honda game for while (other than my bikes).
So in addition to my 93 VFR, I picked this thing up.
Now on to the question I've got. The new VFR, when it's warm, spinning the rear wheel slowly, I hear a slight click from the rear sprocket or chain. When it's cold, I get no such noise. When I spin the wheel quick, I hear the noise to begin with, then it seems to dissipate. Any ideas? This is a new (to me) bike with 12k miles on it.

The current garage:
13 STi, 04 4Runner, 93 VFR750F, 06 VFR Inteceptor

lol, you're like my neighbor, can't buy anything but white! Seriously, my wife's favorite bike (93 VFR).
As far as the chain clicking noise or....Check the play in the axle bearings (I'm assuming your chain is in good condition and lubed), also check to make sure your rear pads are not dragging (making the click as it goes over the drilled rotor). 'bout all I know (my bike is belt driven
).

Thanks man. I'm going to tear it down this weekend and see what I can figure out. The chain is lubed up well, but past that I haven't looked at much. I got the thing a few weeks ago, and ended up with a bum leg where I couldn't ride.
12k... you might check for chain deflection and make sure the rear is properly aligned.
You may also have a bad link in the chain... check every link manually for proper play.
one additional thing that causes chain chatter is worn sprockets... softer sprockets can become "Hooked' in that the leading edge of the sprocket tooth becomes worn much faster than the trailing edge creating a hooked shape. You dont need a huge deformation for a sprocket to become undesirable.. sometimes it may not or be barely visible to the uninformed eye.

Sprocket teeth should never have a vertical face to them, let alone a hooked face.

I spent a few hours this weekend looking over this. I think it may be a bad link in the chain, but got sidetracked trying to clean the tons of grease out of the chain/sprocket/front sprocket. He was using some weird race chain lube for 12k miles and I swear he didn't clean any of it out, ever. There was grease caked a half inch thick up front by the kickstand mount. I got it cleaned as best I could without taking a bunch of crap apart. I'll re-lube the chain and try it again. The sprockets look ok as best I can tell. I'm going to have to get new rubber for this thing at some point, and may have the mechanics give it a quick once over as well, if I can't get it sorted by then.

This is the blurry pre-sale picture he sent me of the sprocket, lol. It was absolutely filthy. There's still a bunch of grease all caked on the rear hub that I've slowly been cleaning off. I was using a flathead screwdriver to pull it out in huge clumps.
I tore this thing apart this past weekend and gave it a good looking over.
First, I took out about 4 lbs of spent chain lube. The entire front sprocket housing was FULL of lube. I was scraping out huge globs of it with a flat bladed screwdriver. I adjusted the rear chain looser, and got rid of all the noise. I need new tires, but I knew that before. Otherwise, the bike looks great! It only took 4 hours of cleaning to get it back to fairly normal.

Back in the day, I always wanted one of those white 90-93 era VFR750F's. They looked classy to me.
For a long time I wanted a VFR but I always thought the bang/buck ratio was a little too low. I got my '04 on a trade.
