I'm currently in college but looking for a cheap bike. I have experience on dirt bikes and my friends 02 Yamaha R6. Think its worth dropping $1500 or 1750 on?

The post states: 1992 Honda CBR 600. has approximately 10,000 miles on rebuilt race motor. it's FAST!!! was purchsed from a motorcycle racer from the ASA race track in Brainerd, MN. Had 2 races on the new rebuild when I got it. I got it as a rolling chassis. has 1 piece fiberglass front fairing, aftermarket CORBIN seat with removable passenger backrest. tires are 80% thread, chain and sprockets have 1,500 miles on them. has K & N air filter, Wiley Co. Racing exhaust. rebuilt front forks 2,000 miles ago, has integrated LED taillight/turn signals, underseat trunk kit, push button electronic seat release, shift kit for clutchless shifting if desired. comes with swing arm stand. has chameleon paint shifts from red/blue/purple. almost looks black at night. selling because i don't have the time to ride or the money.... asking $1,750 o.b.o.

 

I would stay away from it.
There are many nice bikes that don't fetch big $.
Kawasaki ZRX1100, Honda 919,Kawasaki ninja 650, Versys
They might not be COOL Ditch Bangin Sport Bikes but they tend
to be better cared for. I got a 4 yr old 919 with 1120 miles for less
than 4k.

 

an ex track bike is just asking for trouble unless you really know what you are doing.

as RVF said, there are so many scooters out there that need a good home. take your time and something will turn up. fall/winter is a great time to buy a bike.

 

With your budget keep looking, you can find another cbr that's not been a track bike.

 

Dont rush a buy, wait and it will pay off!
