90 accord lx starting issue
just bought a 90 accord with a starting problem. car pretty much starts when it wants. Ive blistered my fingers trying to start it but sometimes it would start right up no problems. It will start if push it and pop the clutch but wont start with key. When i turn the key my dash lights and radio work so i know theres power. When i go to crank it i just hear a tick coming from under the dash. I can feel a vibration when i hear the tick. Comibg from around the fuse box area. any ideas whats going on? ThNks
The starter or battery seems to be faulty. Have you tried to start your ride with another battery? If not give it a try. If the vehicle starts with another battery then your ride has battery related issue and if it does not start then go for replacing starter. Vehicle with exhausted battery may start when pushing ride and popping the clutch.
Yea replaced the battery the day i got it. Someone told me it sounded like the starter solenoid. Reason i say this is because there is power getting to the starter because i tested it with a test light
Replaced starter still wont start. Same clicking noise coming from under dash. Someone said starter relay? Any thoughts? Just picked up a new relay. Gunna try it after work.
Gah so after all the headache this was my issue.... Clutch safety switch. At the end of my clutch pedal the rubber piece was missing that pushes the nipple of the switch in. Found a thread on this site where someone glued a penny where the rubber piece was. Starts just fine now... Although i feel like an idiot for missing this several times, i feel a sense of accomplishment. Hope this helps someone else. Thanks for all the replies!
