Default ecu swap require a flash?

I have a 00 civic dx where a 96 d16y8 motor and transmission have been swapped in. the wiring harness was switched to obd2b and ecu switched to a p292 -a92. the cel is now on for sall the vtec sensors. Is there a flash or tune required when swapping ecus?

but why would all the vtec codes be showing up? I cleared the cel and it just comes right back on. What else would cause this?

And you're not running an adapter harness? OBD2A to OBD2B?

in order for it to work, you need to switch the engine harness, *** well as the cabin harness, plus a dash and all that goes with it from a 99-00 civic excluding HX model. 96-98 (obd2a) and 99-00 (obd2b) are completely different wiring.

obd2b works in p2pa92 ecu I looked all this up. Why would the cabin harness need to be changed?

I already swapped the engine harness to obd2b. shouldn't it be plug and play with the cabin harness no matter which one for 96-00?

You guys aren't understanding what the OP's setup is.

He has an OBD2B car
He swapped an OBD2A engine into it.
He is using an OBD2B harness on the engine.
He is using an OBD2B ECU with this engine.

His car is already OBD2B and he's using an OBD2B ECU, there are no changes needed.

Here's the kicker.... His car is a DX and the new engine is from an EX with VTEC. His new ECU is also from an EX which has VTEC and now he's throwing codes for all the VTEC components.

Obvious answer: He needs to wire up VTEC.

what harness are you using? ex or dx?

if using ex.. I would verify oil pressure.

my bad, I read wrong. Grab an EX or SI engine harness and you should be good to go.

Im gonna throw a guess on this, but Im betting the OP needs to add the wiring that goes from engine harness to cabin/ecu harness for VTEC.

he doesn't have to, an ex harness already has vtec.

That connection is on 92-95 civics. a 2000 model year (all 96-00) has one continuous harness to the ecu.

low oil pressure, bad wiring, bad solenoid.

Ok cleared it again and only knock sensor and o2 sensor are showing up. I replace the knock sensor already because it was broken and noticed it during the wiring harness swap. also now the vehicle seems to accelerate by itself up to like 40 after driving it for a while and getting it to operating temperature
