Default Going nuts trying to get rear defogger working

first off, if someone could tell me for sure whichside of the car is positive and negative. Everything I read says drivers side is positive but I think my passenger side is positive because I only get continuity to ground on the drivers side.

I dont see any breaks in my defogger, but there is tint on it. I cant get an ohm reading from my rear defroster with the terminals disconnected. So that means i MUST have a break in the defrost line, right ?

This is a helpful video I just found. I don't think it matters which side is positive or negative - as long as your harness is unmodified. Did you check your fuses? I guess for grid testing you may have to poke through your tint with a sharp probe, or if you don't have one maybe make one out of a pin or pushpin.

OHM should work, but try continuity just for kicks.
If you don't get a reading, then for sure it's got a break.
However, it would be unlikely that you broke EVERY grid running across the window.
You would have to have a scratch running from the top to the bottom of the window breaking every line.
The defroster works on all the other grids even if a couple have been cut.
Likely, the connector tab going to one of the main bars on either side of the window has become disconnected.

Try testing at the main bars rather than the connector tabs to see if you can get a reading.
They have repair kits for putting tabs back on.

Fuses are good. I guess I am going need to get a sewing needle and wrap some wire around it and connect that to an alligator clip then to my meter. My mistake was thinking the rear grid was good because I had voltage.

Ive got the tabs, and voltage at the terminals, and ground is good. I get no lines working. Hmm, now it gets really confusing.

how do you know it's not working? It's also 90* outside and humid as hell, I hardly doubt it would really work right now.

Because its been raining daily for the last month, windows fog like all hell with my rear hatch leak. Its nice that I can reach it with a rag though since our cars are so tiny.
