As the topic says, Was the d16y8 ever an HX Model, any help will be much appreciated, thanks

 

HX had the D16Y5, DX had the D16Y7 and EX models came with the D16Y8

kick ***, now, how can i tell if i've got an hx or y8 head, cuz the guy told me it was a d16y8 head from an HX, and thats either he got the wrong info, or someone did a swap. I know i can find out via the casting number, but where or what do i look at (internet and such etc...)...thanks a bunch

Nuts. I wish I had another digital camera and I could take a picture of my Y8 head for you. The Y8 head looks almost identicle to the Z6 head. What does it say on the valve cover? Most Y8's just say "Honda" in big letters on the valve cover - no other valve cover will fit on a Y8, except for a Z6. Does it have a vtec solenoid?

 

nah it doesn't i need one, you got one? Im talking about a number or something cast into the head it's self. Is it tough to differentiate between the y5 vtec-e and the y8?
