Hello to all. I just picked up a 97 Civic/5spd wiith a JDM engine for my daily driver. I would like to do a tune up, but I am not sure which engine I should buy parts for. The block is stamped D15b, and it does have one VTEC solenoid. What engine should I specify when ordering/purchasing parts for tune up?

First tank of gas with the car as is produced 34.5 mpg. Adjusted tire pressure to spec for the second tank and I am up to 36.7 mpg. I think I am going to love this car!

 

nice!! im thinking you can get parts for the Y8 or Z6.. im guessing like the spark plugs, cap, rotor?? i dnt remember if the OBD1-2 cap & rotor are the same. i wanna say they are.

 

you get the proper components for you engine/year/obd. for you you'd be after d15b cap+rotor and such.

 

There is a string of numbers under the stamp as well. Would that be a serial #, or actually tell me what the engine came out of? I also saw in yellow paint marker, the kind the salvage yard would use, d15b/AT/EK3. Does it mean anything?

 

D15b = Engine
AT = Automatic Transmission
EK3 = Chassis code of an EK3 Civic VTI I presume.
