Need tech Help with H22 accord. Car is not starting.....
Okay, the Accord shut off on me as I came to a stop in traffic yesterday. I managed to pull off onto the shoulder, barely. When I turn the key, the car cranks and fires, but when I let go of the key, it stops running. It started after sitting for about 10 minutes or so yesterday, then wouldn't start this morning when I was leaving for work. Is this a common problem?? My father's accord has been sitting for a couple of weeks now with the same symptoms!! I've been too busy to look at it for him, and now all of a sudden, I'm having the same symptoms.
My car is a 91' accord with an H22 swap that has been running fine for the last year. His is a 94' LX, all stock. Just happened out of the blue. No work has been done recently on either car.
Any ideas are welcome

Just a suggestion...
I have a 90 Accord with h22, I have yet had this problem with the new engine but...
Sometimes with the old engine, the car would do the same thing, the fix was, maybe not the same in your case, was under the dash (Driverls side) there is a black relay, take it out and take it to Honda for a new one.
firdt check to see if any corrosion has occured.
Quick tip---tap the relay with something hard, just enough to vibrate it a little.
I hope this helps, good luck if it doesnt.

check your ignition switch, try holding the key to keep it running. bad ign. switches are a common problem after a few miles.
My friend's prelude had the same problem...he actually had to hold the key inbetween second accessory and where it actually turns the starter to keep it running...we replaced the electronic ignition switch on the driver's side of the shift column and it fixed the problem.
Also try checking the fuel relay under the dash, We have changed 100's of them this year in the shop, its just old age. It mostly does it if its REALY hot out side.
Go here its part # 28

thanks guys. I'm not so sure it's the main relyay. I do know that's a common issue and I've experienced that before, but then, the car would not even fire, just crank. I have a brand new main relay sitting in the basement. I'm going to try it tomorrow. The damn car left me stuck at work tonight, 60 miles away from home.
Thanks again. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

The ignition switch is your problem
I've replace quite a few of them at work.
Take it to honda there is a recall on this part
it should apply to your car.

Dealer says there is no recall for my year accord, only some 98-00. Can you tell me how I can test the switch to know for sure? Is there a way to connect wires to close the circuit or test voltage?
I went out, started it, and backed off enough to keep it running but stop the starter. Then, I backed off a bit until the accessories came on, ie: power windows and fan blower. Seems to be the cause so I'm heading to the dealer for the ignition module. Thanks for the advice!!
