Default Timing off or need more fuel?

I rebuilt a d16a6 for my sedan. The sedan was dpfi and I haven't got the parts to swap it to mpfi yet. When i rebuilt it I put zc pistons in it to give it more compression. The cr is around 10.4:1. My problem is I have like no power from idle to about 2300 rpm. After that it pulls pretty good. My ? is, is this more likely timing or the fact im still running dpfi. Im leaning more towards timing. Im going to recheck timing tonight when I get off work.

Since you are checking timing when you get home, maybe wait until then to see if you still even have a problem.

Thats what Im thinking it is. From the research I've done its probly off a tooth. But can the motor run fine with no problems with that compression and being dpfi?

that is a good point man, but if it changes after 2300rpm i dont think thats an issue. its by chance an automatic is it?

Well its been raining for 3 days straight, so I haven't been able to check the timing yet. But hopefully the rain will let up today.

Run 89 minimum IMO anything over 10:1 compression you shouldn't cheap out on.

i wish i could she you guys how this guy just copied and pasted off his other post in the nas *** section.
if you truly rebuilt your motor youd know to check your timing. bro i was just like you back in the day thinking i could make my dpfi even fun lol...... you cant i ran a 272 cam and a zc head and had every issue your describing before and after i got the cam. get mpfi. and if you did raise your compression your motor would be pinging from pre det

I copied it from here and posted in the na section b/c no one was responding I thought I would get a faster response in there. So There is no way I can run it like is even if i run high test until i get all the stuff to do the mpfi conversion. Its hard to get parts around here bc everyone wants an arm and a leg for everything and the upull its are usually lacking the parts i need.

If it will help Ill try to post a video up this weekend of it idlein.

i gaurntee its your issues even if you do need more fuel theres now way in providing it thru dpfi, and timing off a tooth you wont even notice it. i paid upwards of 500$ for my mpfi setup and thats obd0. remember mpfi only came in the si's those are rarer then your dx

I was going to go obd1 bc they are eaiser to find and i already have the jumper harness from dpfi obd0 to mpfi obd1. the hardest part is finding a complete intake with nothing missing. what be the best ecu to run? And the timing is off by looks to be 2 teeth. could that make a diff?

Fixed the timing and it seemed to fix all the problems. Now I have shaking in the front end. Is this more likely the outer or inner tie rod ends or the rack bushings?

could be neither, under what conditions does it shake? Hard acceleration, turning, just crushing????

It shakes all the time at all speeds. I pretty sure its the axels. I had the car in the air and checked each tire for play and everything seemed tight. And I know the axels are shot anyways. All the boots are torn and they clicking all the time
