Default 97 accord lx rebuild question/opinion

So I'm rebuilding a 97 accord lx 4cyl 2.2. Stock car nothing done so far. The engine has 196,000 miles. My question is, is it worth swapping the automatic tranny for a manual tranny and sticking with the same engine or should I just swap motor and tranny at the same time? Really don't have the funds right now to go crazy also. All labor is being done by me so I don't have to take into account any mechanic fees.

i don't know you're definition of the cost of "going crazy" but the most cost effective route is to just rebuild. that is if you want something to be built right without cutting corners.

(assuming the car is currently not running) a running stock rebuild is worth more than a pile of parts if you find yourself in over your head. just a thought.
