Default Speedometer reads too fast

I just acquired a 95 accord. The speedometer reads 70, but I am actually only going 60. Where do I start looking to fix this? Thanks for your time !!

You can start off by posting in the correct section. This is for Civics, not Accords.

Past that, make sure you have the correct wheel/tire size on the car, as well as the proper transmission and speed sensor.

1) Wrong section, here's the Accord section for your generation:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2

2) Speedometer calibration (if it's the cluster that's malfunctioning) isn't simple and easy, is there a CEL (check engine light) [#17 or #4] If so, it could be associated with a VSS problem (Vehicle Speed Sensor). The VSS is connected to the transmission and has a gear which measures vehicle speed.

First explore the suggestions provided.
But, what is the error at other speeds?

When I bought my Del Sol it was 7 miles off at every speed. My fix was to remove the lens from the dash, remove the needle, then

Drove in 3rd gear and found the rpm that generated 30 mph GPS. Made several passes to verify.

Drove at a steady speed and replaced the needle.

Took a couple trys but now it is within 1 mph against GPS at all sppeds.

First off,how are you so sure the speedo is fast?

You can check your driver side door jamb for proper wheel/tire size for your vehicle

Is the motor/trans original?

94 to 97 accords always read off on the rpms and speedo... remove the cluster and adjust it via calibration setting screws located in the backside of the gauge cluster.

I determined the speed variance by pacing some newer Honda vehicles. Since I got the car used, I do not know if this is the original motor / trans and the car lot I got it from does not know either. There is no check engine light, so looks like speedometer calibration will be the way to go. Just ordered a service manual, so I think I should be in good shape. Thanks again for all your help!! Have a GREAT day !!
