Anyone using the ST 51140 Rear Sway bar? need advice on fitment
Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade my stock 89 Crx Si rear sway bar but am fairly picky and want to be sure this bar is for me and will clear my exhaust
I am fairly keen on the Suspension Techniques 51140 setup, that uses the factory bolt holes to attach the brackets to the subframe, and mounts the bar like stock. Do all kits come with the subframe brackets/endlinks? Im assuming this amazon kit would
My concern is EXHAUST CLEARANCE As I run a large 3.15" OD steel exhaust, it is routed over the stock LCA almost like stock, it clears the stock sway bar.

Does anyone have pictures of this bar or concern my bar will clear? I will get pictures of my setup in the morning Im just having no luck finding info on exhaust fitment or pics to show, definetely couldnt find any pics of a Crx running the bar with a large exhaust

I am running a 2.5" pipe that was custom bent to fit over the sway bar. I used to have an HKS (smaller pipe) and that pipe would always hit the sway. Here is a pic with the bigger pipe.
I doubt you'll get it to clear even with modification to your exhaust. 3.15 holy blow hole batman. You might be able to run some kind of strap around the hangers just in front of the sway bracket, as pictured by rallypoint.
I run 2.5 and still had to have the hangers bent up to clearence my st sway.

Post #132 shows st sway with 3" thermal. Looks close! Not sure the o.d. of the thermal. Might be 3.15" as well?

That picture is to zoomed in to give me a real good reference.
This is the clearance I currently have with the stock bar, which makes me think if the bar is mounted and routed like stock, I may clear. I can relocate that exhaust hanger bracket to if I have to, but Id prefer not modify the piping
Or does the ST bar mount higher than stock? moving the bar up into the path of my exhaust pipe

Can't really say how it sits per the OEM one. My hatch never had an OEM sway, although I tried, but found there to be no nuts welded inside the frame for the bracket.
I was being overly dramatic in my original post. I'm sure there's a way to make it work. On mine the shop that was redoing my exhaust just took a hammer to the hanger coming off the body and bent it up towards the body as far as possible. You might have to heat the hanger off the exhaust too, and see if you can get a little more clearence there. GL
