Default "Fiberglass" coming out of brand new catback exhaust ?...whatttt...

Hey guys I currently drive a 1990 Honda Civic Si.
My situation is that I JUST got a new "Yonaka" full cat back installed.
FYI, I did not do it myself (I tried but my cat bots were too rusty, and he only charged me 80$). *note that the installation was done at a reputable place where my shop teacher recommended me.

So what I got going is that, after 3 or so hours of driving it ( I did push it and redline and all that good stuff) I'm starting to see what I think and have read on forums is "Fiberglass".. Is my brand new resonator bad ? Will I have to get a new one ? I mean the exhaust was installed on my car just the other morning...

It's on the tip of my exhaust and it seems to get all over my rear hatch... It's silky hairy stuff (no homo).

So I just wanted your guys input and any expirence youve had and any solutions. I would hate to buy another exhaust, because I'm starting to like mine :/.

Any new exhaust is going to do that, there will be loose fibers from manufacturing. It just depends on if it keeps doing it a week later.

My tanabe did that. It was a preproduction model. And they said it was typical.

"glasspack" means packed with fiber glass. Its just how it's made.

You can't do anything about it.

It's not harmful really. But if its not stopping and you don't like it, return it.

Or sell it off.

A piece of aluminum screen might stop it from flying out if its really that bad!

Hey thanks for the responses. It looks great and I will post pics when I can( I just move and I don't have my computer at my new house yet, so I'm posting via iPhone.)

As for the fiberglass stuff, it's becoming to shoot out less, and my exhaust is sounding pretty good. As for the yonaka brand it's pretty nice, it's a tad bit louder than oem, it's really deep and isn't obnoxious. If you look it up on YouTube you'll most likely find the integra video, and it's a bit louder, because the piping is bigger.

But thanks alot,I appreciate It fellow HT.

P.s. I will post a pic and a vid clip once I can!

To be honest, I'm not sure. My piping consists of a resonator after the cat, pipe thing ('not sure what its called) and then the muffler.

Yeah I love the sound of my Yonaka. Im running no cat and an ebay 4-2-1 header and its got plenty of volume, but not too loud at all. No rasp, and NO drone, at any rpm. It's really great, and the price is even better!

Good to hear man ! I'm liking mine even when it's just a car back, stock headers and cat. I do plan on running new headers and hi flo cat, but I'm doing full suspension and new shoes and rubber first 😋
