d16z6 tensioner question

I was wondering if on a d16z6 engine do I have to remove the lower timing belt cover to loosen the tensioner bolt or is there a hole I can stick a socket wrench through?

no....there is a hole above the crank pulley. It may/may not still have a round cover covering it.

even though this is a D15B, it's the same setup as a D16z6. You can clearly see the "RED" colored bolt right above the crank pulley.
