99 Accord LX Stall problem
I bought a 99 Accord LX sedan (182,000) three weeks ago, and the car has stalled three times. It's very intermittent; it happened once before we left for vacation, once during (both of these at stoplights) but happened again today on the way to work cruising at about 50 mph out of the blue.
In each case, it started right back up, no problem. I say it's intermittent because we took it on vacation and put over 2000 miles on it.
Any thoughts? Other than these issues, it has been running like a top.

I just noted the recalls on this car...one is for faulty ignition switches, and that may be the problem. If this is the case, what parts would be involved and how many labor hours to replace it if is a bad ignition switch? I'd guess this may be a dealer only thing...
Good question. I did some checking, this was fixed once but it appears that it is occurring again. I would think that since it is doing the same thing, Honda would be willing to fix it. Personally, I'd rather just not have the device installed--going to be a pain in the neck--and pocket--if I have to get another key made.
The problem seemed to go away, but has returned and is worse. My wife and I were travelling on the interstate and we noticed faint smoke coming up from the steering column...still think this may be the issue? thanks.
take off the lower steering column cover and smell the ignition switch...if it smells burned and it sounds like it should, then replace it...it's one of the easiest things to replace..it's just a screw/bolt and a connector
