Default K24a4

I was driving a '04 accord the other day and I was thinking, why hasn't anyone swapped this engine into an earlier generation accord? Even with the autotragic it seemed to pick up well. Horsepower and torque numbers (160 hp/161tq) are nearly identical too, seems pretty well balanced. I noticed the compression ratio is 9:7:1 making it suitable for boost, right? I'm guessing it's a more expensive swap then the usual H22 and has less aftermarket support. It would be something different then the usual H22 swaps

It has been done! There are a couple 5th gens and a 4th gen that I know of for sure. Right now it is still a very expensive swap for the gains. An H22 swap is still the better bang for your buck.

Yup, it's been done, but I haven't seen it done with an automatic though. And it's a waste of money if you're going to keep it.

I'm not really certain a K-swap would be beneficial in anyway other than the 6-speed(although kind of fragile) and newer parts/tech($$$). It works well in Civics/Integras since they're lighter and all, but the Accords already come with a fairly large displacement four cylinder that has proven to make good power- N/A and boosted. The only real downside to the F/H is the transmissions seem to rob about 5-10% more power, and F's are a little harder to find parts for, which requires some experiementing with parts mix/match and increase $ for parts(comparitively). If you're going to add boost, stick with an F. If you want to make more power of the box N/A, go H. I love K's, but I just don't really see the point with the information on the F/H that's out there. It'd be sweet to drop in a J-series V6, but that's some major $ and time/effort. Damn they sound good though.

I guess it all boils down to how much you're willing to spend.

The K24 is a good upgrade. Bigger displacement and very sensitive to mods which makes good power with just I/H/E tuned on K-Pro. There's a dude whose got a K24A2 in his CD5 and his rips like nothing. RPM jumps as fast as a bullet.

My future swap.

I'd be curious to see the total cost vs gain against building what you already have. I agree an OEM build K24 is a beautiful thing, but the H22 is already a super solid platform for power. I still see the two biggest benefits are the VTC and gearing with a K.

Still stand by my previous statements.
