Default z6 and y8 vtec solenoids the same?

Does anybody know if the vtec solenoids for a d16z6 and d16y8 are exactly the same? I'm doing a minime on one of my cars using a z6 head and need a vtec solenoid, and the junkyards here are full of EJ civics and a few EH civics with no engines. I don't see why they would be any different, just wanted to ask the experts on here before I buy one.

I can't say it's all inclusive for all D16Y8 engines or if there was a cutoff year where there was a difference but from my experience there is definitely a difference from Z6 to Y8.

EDIT: I'm referring to the VTEC solenoid assembly just to be clear.

I've seen 100's of Vtec video's on how they work etc... the one thing that they all say is that the Vtec solenoids are the same as the transmission solenoids. To me this means that they are all the same. I don't see why it wouldn't work. The solenoid fills up with oil activating the Pins on the lobes running in the cams. For sure the heads are completely different but solenoid is just a signal sender after filling up with oil pushing the pins for the middle lobe which is longer and larger giving more push and pull. hope this helps. i can't say for sure because i have never had to switch them out. let me know what you find out. I am interested.

It won't work. The y8 has a different bolt pattern(design) you can use any b series vtec solenoid though
