new to accords and looking for advice
hi all. i have a 95 Honda accord v6 LX automatic. if im correct its referred to as a cd6? well anyways its only got 96xxx miles and from that im thinking about keeping this car for an extremely long time if not forever. it is my daily driver and i haul 3 kids in total. ive already done an oil change using synthetic oil. now I'm looking for help with suggestions to all the tune-up questions. as for spark plugs and wire sets I'm looking to see what it is the best choice amongst the competitors. also my exhaust rattles a lot so I'm looking for exhaust hangers but also want to upgrade my headers and exhaust as well because they are looking old. im also going to work on the cosmetics as it has the expected rust in the quarter panels. but for now im asking for help with the basic tune-up. if there is a thread relating to my question then can you please direct me to it? thank you everyone in advance.
you shouldn't need a new distributor but rather the cap and rotor. Also you cannot go wrong with an NGK wire set and plugs. If you drive like a sane person, use ZFR5F-11 # (stock v6 plugs). If you like running the car hard (I mean REALLY running it) I would suggest installing ZFR6F-11's instead. [NGK plug codes]
A CD6 is an Accord with an H22 (hi-rev big block 4cyl).
The V6 Accords (5th gen) are CE6 chassis.
The exhaust most likely rattling from a catalytic converter shield that has rusted to hell. Look underneath near the center of the car and see if the shield on the cat is raggedy.
As far as I've known for the v6, you're limited to the OBX headers (88-90 Acura Legend headers which has the same engine). That is unless you go custom.
For the cat back, i believe the aftermarket ones that fit on the 4 cyl's should line up the same. If you are going to do I/H/E and maybe some mild bolt ons I would go with a 2.25" header back. If going more than that I would move on to a 2.5" header back. Custom or aftermarket, up to you.
Also if you wanted to, you can convert your auto to a manual by going out and getting a Acura Legend 5 speed along with the associated parts for the swap.

thanks for the great answer DeadlockRiff. now for the exhaust, i really can't have anything too loud. i like low tones with a nice rumble if that's possible. the boys in blue over here in Lowell don't like Hondas at all. it sucks being followed from block to block because your car looks nice. but even then i still plan to throw on lips and whatnot, but I'll never drop it. for the atx to mtx swap, that'll be way later down the line. i want it now but it'll be a lot of time and money so I'll hold off. thanks I'll start on them spark plugs and rotor+cap. I'll have more questions later thanks again.
