99 v6 Accord: Ignition Switch vs Main Relay
Hello, I'm in need of some troubleshooting help.
I've had an intermittent problem with my car starting and it has stalled twice driving. All signs pointed to ignition switch so I replaced it. Still doesn't start.
Before I bought the ignition switch I looked at the solder joints on the main relay and they looked good. Plus I could hear the fuel relay...at least at first.
I no longer hear the fuel relay. What's odd is that this morning I heard it a couple times then it stopped. Yesterday did the same thing, I heard it a few times then it stopped. Should you always hear fuel relay?
I get same behavior with either ignition switch by the way. I did have a blown ACG fuse that I replaced this morning...but no other fuses are blown.
PLease help, thanks.

The PGM-FI Main Relay, [main relay] will always prime the fuel system every time the ign. switch is turned on.
This is what should happen when you turn on the ign. switch
1- The PGM-FI Main Relay will "click" two (2) times, [the "clicks" are very close together so may sound like one click] first click is the fuel injector relay turning on, the second click is the fuel pump relay turning on.
At the same time, the CEL will turn on and the fuel pump will start primeing.
2- After no more then a few sec. there will be a 3rd "click" from the PGM-FI Main Relay, [fuel pump relay turning off].
At the same time the fuel pump will stop priming and the CEL will go out.
As mentioned, this will/should happen every time you turn on the ign.
If not, either the PGM-FI Main Relay is bad, [very common problem] or the ECU/ECM is bad, [ECU/ECM controls the fuel pump relay] or you have a wiring/fuse issue.
Although in most cases you can see the cold solder connections on the PGM-FI Main Relay CB, but not always, just resolder all the connections, that's what I do...

You are going to hear that fuel pump, it's fairly loud. Turn down the stereo, put the key and click it to the first position. That fuel pump runs for a couple of seconds, you'll hear the whoosh.
If you are having problems with it stalling while you are moving it's not the starter, it could be the fuel pump but if you are hearing that fire everytime you start it I doubt if it's that. It could be your distributor cap, wires. I had a problem with my crx and after all was said and done (I replaced cap, wires, plugs, main relay), it turned out my distributor was going bad. Symptoms were that it would stall at low rpms and it wouldn't fire up after running it hot.

Its not your ignition switch its the RFID unit on your lock and cylinder but good luck a new unit comes with the whole shebang worth over $150 and you still need your keys programmed to fit the new lock.
The "RFID" would not cause the car to stall, once engine is running the immobilizer is "deactivated". 94
