Tried starting car with timing "off" would this bend vavles ?
a while back(1.5 months) my timing slipped when the car was off(NO CLUE HOW) but it was to the point where one "up arrows" was up and the other was down
. so the car wouldn't start... fixed that and everything has been fine to this day I tried many a time to start the car while it was like that as I didn't think to check mechanical timing. car seemed/seems no worse or better than before... thx
will get around to doing a leakdown test at some point but if it's not needed then no.

Oops sorry forgot, I comp tested it as soon as I got it running and went for a little drive 220,217,215,222. 1-4. so I guess that would mean everything's still ok. it used to push 240psi +/- 1-4 but that has dropped since day one when I first got the car. any point in a leakdown test ? (I'd have to get the tester it's self).

Not 100% sure but I think that means it is ok, maybe someone else can chime in.
A bent valve will definitely reduce the compression numbers. More than what you're seeing. You appear to be fine.
Still wouldn't hurt to do a leak down test.

It's unlikely you bent valves with the timing simply being off (unless it was off in the juuust the right way). If the belt had snapped and the valves/cam weren't moving at all with the pistons still jamming up and down... THAT'S when the pistons give the valves some "tough love" as it were. Your compression numbers seem decent. You should be fine.
that's the general consensus I came up with as there were no issues after. i'll get around to a leakdown test at some point but it's no rush imo.

have you checked firing order? and make sure the timing is set correctly now, or have someone who knows how check it for you

does have a irritating click when idling/starting off(so semi cold) and will do it randomly. however I have yet to check/set if needed lash.
was just a questions car is fine imo but have some extra time so If there is a problem I have the time now to deal with it.
oh. Well no there should be no damage, especially if there's no indication.
I would take the time to do maint. like oil/filter changes
I use to have this problem I changed the belt tensioner SPRING. At first I couldn't figure it out cause there's a black plastic cover that sits around the spring to help stop it from rusting or whatever, I went to go take off the tensioner and the spring accidentally fell off. Luckily it did cause it sat crookedAF
