Default hybrid update...somewhat long.

As some of you may have wondered my car finally runs....Many of you remember my hybrid disaster story post and all of that. Obviously things have taken a change for the better. I finished it up on tuesday night and took it out....After solving a code 5 and rough idle the car finally ran nice....still leaking coolant from one of the heater hoses and quite a nasty exhaust leak. Vtec was most definatly heard I also needed to adjust the clutch cuz it was slipping and i had a very sloppy pedal. I still have to fix that. Being the trooper that i am i took it out anyway despite a few problems....i got it warmed up and the moment of truth came....found a nice stretch of road and mashed it to the floor!!! Man what a HUGE difference from stock....i banged through gears and things were great...Until later that night...

So after that was all said and done it was time to go home,i was leaving a friends house and got down the street..all of the sudden the tach cut out...things got dim and the car died....long story short one of the alternator plugs wasnt clipping in hard enough and not charging the battery...i had to have my dad come help me out and use some ghetto rigging to get it home.....i also had lost alot of coolant and my temp gauge was getting higher by the minute....luckily i got home before things got too hot...luckily the hood was still off and it was freezing cold out.

Things have gotten better....still to fix- exhaust leak, put more tranny fluid in(kinda low) mess with clutch pedal....it feels sloppy and isnt engaging right causing the clutch to slip a bit...in only fully engages when i lay on the gas. Fix coolant leak on heater hose or core and swap out alternator for oringinal stock one from car....OTher than that the car runs great and is fast as fawk.....a bit more tuning and all that and it will be a real screamer.....Thanks to all of those who helped, answered questions, supported me and kept me on the right track. Now i have quite the fast ride. Ill keep you all posted......im sure more things will come up soon.

Take it easy on the car until you fix those problems. Alum. blocks and heads don't like high temps. Glad you finally got it squared away though

Yes, that first VTEC howl is quite fun after successfully finishing a swap

As far as swapping in the original alternator, the B16 one has a higher output amperage than the stocker. So if you've got El Thumpo the Stereo, you might have some problems. But otherwise it should be fine (you can PM Francois about this, evidently he's got a B16 swap using a stock CRX alternator with no problems).
