Default 97 4dr/EL Clone Build Thread (XMP Garage)

Hey guys, let me go ahead and welcome you to my build thread. I've had the car for a little over 2 years, and I'm still in the process of getting it where I want it to be.

Here is a picture of the first day I got it. I traded my 98 b20 hatch for this car plus cash on top (I really wanted a 4dr)

Shortly after I decided to pull the engine out, and do a full wire tuck on it, and paint the bey, but didnt know what setup to go with.

I also ripped the interior out to clean, and replace worn/broken parts (car was in really bad shape)

While the motor was out, I had to make a decision, and got convinced by several friend to built the factory single cam motor. I ended up sending all my parts to get machined in Puerto Rico. It was a pretty simple setup. Custom cams, crower valve train, vitara pistons,
and eagle rods.

Needles to say, after the motor was ready, i didn't waited to finish the body of the car to bring it back out. I pieced together a turbo kit, put a 96 front back on the car, and brought it out to play.

Little after it was done, couple of friends and I rented the dyno at Kings Performance for the day, flew our tuner over, and got our cars tuned.

I was looking to get 450whp, but unfortunately I maxed out my turbo (ebay), so I settled with 400.9whp at 19psi on pump gas. Yes with stock sleeves, and only a block guard.

So i went home, home happy, and daily drove the car like that for a couple of months.

Couple months after I found a great deal on a EL front and rear conversion, so I jumped on it right away.

Then couple of weeks after that I had the entire car prepped, primered, and ready for paint.

I then decided that what I had planned for the car, was not good enough so decided to do a complete conversion, so I ripped the car apart.

The shop had the car for over five months. During this time, unfortunately my garage got broken into, and my turbo setup was taken, among many other things that got stolen. I wasnt going to let this stop my built, so I kept it going.

I then started putting it back together, but decided to do something different with the engine bay.

Little after I got the car from the body shop this last time I decided that I didnt liked the bay green anymore, so I started sanding, and shaving some more.

Doesn't look like you can decide on anything. Pick one color, preferably the cars original color and paint the whole car including the bay. ONE color.

Are you going to spray the interior too? Seems like a lot of work just to slack on little details.

After seeing that last pic though....I retract my previous statement. That camber in the back is rediculous.

It's a k20a2 with only bolt ons, and the wheels are just placed there, the car doesn't have any suspension on. It's sitting on dollies.

wow a lot of time was wasted here. you could be done if you would stop reworking work that was already done.

and yet another stance build..
