Default my crx is losing low to midrange torque in base b15

hey i have a 90 crx dx 1.5 auto

lately it has lost low to midrange torque.

I did a timing belt change about 600 miles ago and it worked out ok

I also replaced the factory exhaust with flange mount oem replacements from the cat (including) to the muffler tip that went ok i guess.

it was a magniflo cat and everything else walker .. the muffler does make a slight vibration noise .. a little indy car kinda sound but not so sweet .. thinking maybe its a lose flange weld in the muffler that gets lose sometimes.. but not always.

so i go out to change the spark plugs and before i pull the plugs i check for oil down in the spark plug tubes.. it use to be that #3 would get a little oil and instead of fouling it by letting the oil drip in when i pulled the plug i use a qtip and needle nose to sponge up the oil.

Well this time oil was in each of the spark plug tubes .. not a ton but it only has about 600 miles on it since i change the valve cover gasket and put new donuts on there..

Anyway i clean it out .. pull the plugs .. they are dry and gray and clean but i know they have 25k on them and i have new ones in my hand so i replaced them. no internal fouling on the plugs at all.

I am wondering if that small amount of oil in that tube is causing me problems .. maybe losing me spark.. After i replaced the plugs it ran nice for maybe 100 miles.

Umm also i have another problem.. when i get emissions tested you have to hold the throttle at 2500rpm for about 1.5 minutes as it reads the emissions off the tail pipe..

When i hold the throttle that long i get a check engine .. but only if i am in park.. then i turn the key off and the check engine goes away and the engine runs fine..
i never get a check engine if i am just driving around .. ever .. just when i do this test

I am not sure what that check engine is from.. maybe o2 sensor not sure .. anyway how can i figure that out if the check engine is gone after.. does my old blinking light computer store errors or does it only flash a current error if it is occurring? its not the Type 1 or 2 .. it just blinks at ya..

Thanks a lot..

The car drives ok i guess but its sluggish and its hard to get it to kick down at higher rpm now

The Check engine almost made me fail inspection so its important and so is the oil leak and the power loss....

i will ask the oil leak in another thread because i need to ask more detail but everything seemed good when i put the new one on.. i got a tube of RTV i might go after it next weekend.

Default Re: my crx is losing low to midrange torque in base b15

? ... bumping it yes but only after i answered a bunch of other people's problems...

if anyone has any ideas on why I would get a Check Engine after reving to 2000rpm for about a minute or slightly longer in park for an emmisions test

but never have that problem while driving and then after turning the key off the light goes out and does not come back unless i do the test again..

would really appreciate the insight
