96 accord 2.2 only spark to 1 cyl?
Hey peeps, new here. I have a problem with my 96 accord 2.2 lx. when I got up for work one day I got in the car and it started right up, ran for a few seconds then the motor died. I had a mechanic come out to read the codes and it came up as "crankshaft position sensor". I had the mechanic replace the sensor he aligned all the pullys and balencers as it sad to in the Haynes manual. I stated it up and it ran for 30-40 seconds without the power stearing pump and alternator belts. we buttoned it all up, dropped it and now it doesn't wanna start.
we checked spark coming from the coil wire and he says its only getting spark to one cylinder, what gives??!! I
is there something else in the process? could it be the crank pully need to be cleaned for the magnets to pick up the rotations? timing and positions off despite it starting and running fine before dropping it down off the lift?
please help if you have or know someone whos experienced this. thanks

Yes, there is more in the process. You may have done it, but it wasn't stated. Very rarely (if ever) will a code tell you exactly what the problem is without further troubleshooting. The code is a clue, but not the answer to the problem. Once you have the code, you should follow the flow chart in the manual for isolating the problem. A code can be triggered by more than one thing. A short or open in the wiring can cause the code. Did you follow the flow chart?
That can't be a good thing running the car without the alternator belt. I'm not sure why you'd want to do that. No power steering is fine, but you need the alternator to be running when you're running the engine. I would think maybe an electrical issue now. But this is just a guess. Havey ou checked for codes again ? Could be a stored code.
I didn't follow the flow chart, I will look into that.
My mechanic was thinking the same thing that it might have jumped time.
thanks for the suggestions guys
