I'm looking for an Integra, and I discounted some cars because it was not the color I want. So there is paint.

Most would want a good paint job. I'm asking the opposite. I'm asking a question about the cheap paint job.

Questions. Let's call it the $300 Special paint job.

They will sand down the paint and spray. That's about it, right?

Since there will not be an undercoat (primer), will the original paint color matter?

 

You wont get s#%t for 300. If your that cheap , dont paint the car.

 

maaco special 300 bucks red scrotch brite then half *** mask job then spray but in all serious don't paint the car

 

SO your asking for something that going to fail the first time it rains or you wash it? There are ways to paint a car for cheaper. What ever duponts cheap brand is workable stuff and will last longer then any 300 dollar paint job

 

When I just need a vehicle painted I use John Deere Blitz Black. I can get everything I need at John Deere, except for bondo, and it's very easy to prep the car and paint it yourself. You can play around with your thinner and hardener mixture and add a rough texture to the paint or smooth it out, polish, and have a beautiful flat black. It covers everything evenly, is resilient to chipping and scratching, and is about 120 bucks for enough paint, thinner, hardener, and masking tape to spray the car 2 to 3 times.

 

$300!! HA, my clear coat cost more than that when I did my car!

 

To answer the question: No the color paint underneath won't really matter if you are going to paint over it.

But... $300 isn't much unless you are talking about buying materials and doing it yourself. I've seen decent paint jobs come from home garages... but usually only because the person spends a LOT of time priming and sanding.
