I bought a new to me turbo without an exhaust housing.. pics... help me id
Hey guys, I found a local sale from a known guy in my semi local import scene and got a great deal on a fresh rebuilt T3 turbo, but have little info on it, and need some help identifying what model it actually is, I took pics and measurements of the exhaust wheel, and the intake is 3" and compressor outlet 2"
His description was for a T3/T04B turbo. And was listed as freshly rebuilt 0 miles. I expected a complete turbo when I showed up, but to my surprise the charger had no exhaust housing, he said he was having the exhaust housing coated, but it was lost, and he eventually just lost interest in turbo'ing his Miata
I haggled him on the price and bought it on the spot, heres what it looks like, to me it looks very similar to a GT28rs compressor housing. I couldnt find much info but seen threads that the exhaust housing from my Ford T3 .60/.63 that I am currently running may simply swap right onto it.
Im hoping to positively ID the turbo and its specs/compressor map if possible. Hoping that my Ford T3 .63 exhaust housing would swap right onto it, and make a nice new setup
Thanks for looking

Got such a good deal I wasnt going to pass it up. I literally paid nothing, but traded it for about $200 worth of parts, that I got for free... years ago. Just looking for some info
Cheers

Housings arent cheap, a new one will be in the 250+ range
Not such a good deal anymore.

I have a .63 housing from my Ford T3 as I mentionned. Still cheap
Just trying to positively ID it and possibly come up with a compressor map or one very comparable.
Does this appear like a T3/T04B to you? Based on my wheel measurements

Can you please resize those pictures to something reasonably sized? 2600px is a little ridiculous for the web.

The comp. Housing is definitely t04b (the most common gt28xx series use this housing as a starting point then get machined for different wheela from there)
It's a t04b turbo for fords early 92-94 7.4 idi (pre powerstroke) diesel
Here's what I dug up, you can verify your measurements against these.
A/R ..70/.82
Compressor*wheel*dia.: inducer 2.30" exducer 2.75" (to4b-h)
Turbine*wheel*dia.: 2.5"
Compressor inlet: 2.5"
Turbine outlet: 2.4"
Standard T3 flange
Standard T4 backplate
S/N: 1819744C91-YFL06622-TC4305
Able to sustain up to 450hp @ 26psi
Here's a site with images, I'm mainly wondering what the compressor wheel looks like as you definitely have a different compressor housing.

My own post from a larger thread about the same turbo.

So go from there but your current housing won't/shouldn't fit without machine work

Thanks for the info wantboost, your last sentence saying my Ford T3 .63 housing wouldnt fit kinda worried me or atleast made me think I should make sure before I pull this setup out and fab another around this new turbo and manifold.
So I pulled my downpipe (needed a coat of paint anyways) and removed the exhaust housing.
It does appear to bolt on and seal without binding and spin freely. I also tried the exhaust housing from an Ebay T3/T04E 57 trim and the housing diameter was to large, if that helps at all
Does that mean I may have some sort of hybrid? Or just wrong info on the net?
Really trying to find an accurate compressor map to plot my setup
