Default DIN Radio adapter 89 DX Hatch

So my girlfriend has an 89 Civic DX hatchback that I've been restoring slowly, said vehicle I have a build thread for.

Anyways, I just recently fixed the radio harness and brought it back to factory specifications then using an adapter harness for the new stereo. When I installed the new radio into my Accord I picked up an adapter from BestBuy to make the installation clean and factory looking.

Where can I find one of these for the Civic? It looks fairly ghetto and honestly lazy with the radio just plainly shoved in the radio compartment.

That's how the factory radio installs. It slides into the DIN compartment, usually held in with a mount on the back of the radio which screws to the dash mount.

Any aftermarket head unit should come with a face plate trim ring to go around the outside.

You don't need a DIN adapter because the opening is already DIN. As mentioned above, the radio should come with a sleeve, it's not something you can normally buy separately.

Huh, interesting to know. I didn't actually purchase the radio, it came "installed" in the car when I bought it. Of course nothing was correctly done nor did it come complete with all the parts. Hopefully I'll be able to find the tray portion somewhere somehow.

a new radio will come with a sleeve you slide in and bend some little tabs to keep it snug.

Yes I'm aware, I don't have said sleeve solely due to this radio being nowhere near purchased. I ordered the actual front piece to center the radio in the compartment last night, maybe once I have that as a reference I can mock something up with some thin straps of steel. Or maybe I still have one from my Accord pioneer radio, huh. I'll have to see. I'll post pictures once it arrives.

Geez, just buy a new radio and me done with it. I think I have 2 or 3 of them laying around my garage. They are pretty cheap nowadays.

The entire fact of using the radio that came with it is a lack of funds. Its not my vehicle, nor is it my vehicle to be putting money into. Besides, why would I buy an entire new radio anyways? I needed the faceplate portion of the trim (which I ordered) and now need to acquire a DIN holder/mounting sleeve. Considering DIN radios, especially Pioneer decks are all too common I will be searching the junkyard when I go to find other parts I am in need of anyways. I'm completely aware of what you guys are explaining, I just needed to understand it.
