Honda Civic 99 Check Engine Alert
I bought an used Honda Civic 99 , 2 door coupe with around 170000 miles, thought i could be able to get some practice driving before I but a new car after 6 months.I paid $ 2000 for that.
After 2 weeks, I saw the Check Engine Alert, took it to a neighborhood workshop, they charged me around $ 700 to fix the serpentine drive belts, power steering fluid flush, transmission fluid flush, brake fluid and 2 tires. The Check Engine was off for only two days. I saw this alert again , this time took it to the Honda Dealer Service station.
They diagnosed the problem and advised that need to Replace Engine Head (1999) along with engine manifold, head gasket, head bolts, cam seal, distributor O Ring, oil change, coolant service, intake manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, valve adjustment with gasket adjustment, spark plugs, timing belt service.
This cost me around $ 1500 , so the total cost came up to $4300. So based on all the information, what do you think guys, should I go forward and manage , or it will be a whole down the drain expenses?
I am a novice, so appreciate your help

Maybe you should say what code it is the CEL is trying to inform you of. You can do this with 5 minutes and a paperclip. Look in the FAQs on how to pull a code.
And I advise you to take that car to another shop. They took advantage of you and ripped you off.

Again, they ripped you off big time. And the Honda guys are trying to do the same thing. I've never seen a code or codes that require that much to repair.
Do the things at this link and you'll know what codes you're throwing.
