Default s2000 burnt valves

Hello everyone,

I have owned a few Hondas over the years but never an S2000.

My brother bought one recently and it was misfiring on Cylinder #3 so we had a shop do a valve adjustment and I was told the valves were too tight (previous owner did a valve adjustment and left them that way).

Two days ago the car started sputtering and died all of a sudden.

Same shop came to the house and picked up the car.

Upon diagnosing the issue they noticed that there are 4 burnt exhaust valves.

They were trying to charge us $2300 for the whole job so I told him that was crazy and he dropped the price to $1647.78 (this inclused OEM valves, all seals, gaskets, etc).

Here are my questions:
  1. Is $1647.78 still way too much money for this job?
  2. Could the fact that the previous owner had another shop overtighten the valves cause the burnt valve issue now?
  3. Does anyone know of other reliable Honda/Acura shops in the Atlanta area?

Thanks in advance, also if this is not the location for this thread mods please go ahead and move it to its correct place.

Thiago
