Is it worth replacing exterior parts on a Civic SI Mugen with non OEM parts?
I own a 2008 Civic SI Mugen and recently hit a dead animal that damaged the front lip and rear difuser of the car. Luckily there was not much damage and I got my car appraised using OEM parts.
Do you think it's bad for the resale value if I use good quality non OEM parts? I do plan to sell the car soon.
Thanks

Yes it will be bad for the resale value. I wouldn't want resale parts when buying a Mugen SI.. Maybe if it was a regular SI it would be ok but not for the Mugen.. It's the reason you're buying the mugen one for the parts on it.

Take a step back and realize what you're asking. If non-OEM parts devalues a regular vehicle, what is it going to do to one that's as rare as that? Especially if the lip is one of those limited parts.
Thanks all.
I am new to the forum and needed to have 2 posts to get access to the marketplace. I know it was kind of a silly question. hehe

On a Mugen Si, which i'm sure you have in great condition, i would want to use oem parts. With that being said, if the repairs are done and the parts look, fit, and function properly it will not diminish the value of the car. That's just an excuse people use to buy the car cheaper.

im sure everyone would want oem parts on their car. per insurance guidelines, after 3 years and 36k miles any insurance quality parts can be used on a car as long as the look, fit, and funtion is the same as before your loss. If they can't find a non oem that does that, then they will get oem.
when you're paying out of your own pocket, you can put whatever you want to pay for on your car. If the part is a quality part, as described above, you wouldn't be able to tell if it's oem.

I would prefer to have the OEM Mugen parts if I was buying a Mugen Si that is 100% for sure!
if only they would lower the oem prices close to the aftermarket prices. They could potentially make more money that way since body shops would rather use those parts and insurance would too, if they weren't so expensive compared to aftermarket.
since we are on the subject. Has anyone with a mugen civic made an insurance claim to replace a front or rear bumper? I looked in the estimating software and the trim levels stop at si. does not show mugen. If that's the case, they may only use oem.
