My friend couldnt pass his emissions/smog test, so he retarded his timing, and turned his fuel **** all the way down.

How would someone do this. I asked him but he got a shop to do it.

I'm looking for a DIY on both. And would turning the fuel **** all the way down work?

To retard the ignition timing you just loosen the distributor rotate it. I wouldnt retard the mechanical timing.... Dont know what a fuel **** is, but im pretty sure your meaning ignition timing. The steps are basically what you just do for a regular timing job, but retarding it.

 

Fuel ****. I don't know why it did that. My mechanic said he didn't need to adjust the timing. He just did the water pump, timing belt and kstuned tensioner
