Default 98 civic, metal bar in the way of replacing rear O2 sensor

So i have been blowing fuse15 on a constant, so I decided to do my rear O2 sensor. I had to disconnect my exhaust from under the exhaust manifold, take off the supporting bracket on the front side of the head to let it hang down to get access.. I notice there is this metal bar running from the transmission and bolts to the underside of the car past the O2 sensor, what is the point of this bar. The frront near the transmission kind of looks like a drive shaft. This bar rubbed my old O2 sensor to where the wires were torn.

What is the significance of this bar, can it be totally removed with out any problems?

Probably your shifter stabilizer- can be removed no problem. However, if this is touching the O2 sensor, there's a very good possibility the rear motor mount is going/is bad. It will allow the rear of engine to "sag" and create other issues. Has it been shifting funny? Is the shift pattern biased in movement (more shifter movement in 1,3,5 as opposed to movement in 2,4,R?)
Edit: nearest thing on my car is actually the subframe connection bar- this doesn't go back, though, it goes side to side. We need a pic-

How many motor mounts does my car have, 3? I look on sites that sell them and it only shows three, cdoes the transmission have a mount too?

there's technically 5 R L Rear and the two torque mounts. yes the trans has it's own mount so to say.

So replaced all 5 motor mounts and the same problem. Is the o2 sensor suppose to be below the shift stabilizer bar or above it? Between the bottom of the car and the bar?

Could I raise my exhaust a little bit so it isn't rubbing?.

Driving on just the main o2 sensor for a month now. Have the new rear denso in the box

What trim is it and transmission. Also is everything stock or is there any added modifications?

the last picture shows the same shift stabilizer bar back near its mounting point. it is also rubbing on the exhaust shield, but the exhaust shield is bending down towards it.

is the o2 sensor suppose to be above or below the bar.. can anyone help. sorry it took a while to upload pictures. worked 45 hours in the past 3 days

well there's a few things there.

you appear to have a spark plug defouler on there. also a generic aftermarket o2 sensor on there, which is probably contributing to your problem.

You need a shorter O2 bung or remove the de-fouler (extension) piece. The O2 sensor should be directly in the exhaust stream, not shrouded in a side tube. If anything, have it 45'd leaning forward instead of perpendicular to the pipe.
