Hey im new on the board...but i had a question concerning the H22 (98+) Prelude Trannys. Most of u should know that the Prelude Trannys SUCK!! so i was wondering if anyone here has done a tranny swap? is there like a racing tranny (if that exsists?) they make for our cars? or any other tranny that would fit? thanx

 

get a 4th gen tranny....much better

 

The trannies are fine as long as you don't grind down the synchros. The 4G trannies have better gearings and the JDM trannies have an optional LSd, so if you need a swap go with one of them. If you have plenty of cash get the gears cryogenically treated before slapping it onto the block.

 

They don't suck, they just can't take full throttle riceboy shifts eveytime they take off from a standstill, that will KILL the trannies... Take care of 5th gear, or your reverse will fail.. Any tranny driven hard is going to fail...

 

how do you take care of 5th gear? lol

 

Don't grind it. 5th can be a bish to get to if you aren't thinking about it.

 

There's also the Euro-R transmission. I haven't seen any actual gearing numbers but from what i've heard the gears are very close. Other than the 4th gen transmissions tyou've got the best gearing possible for acceleration. You can also swap in a tranny from an accord but the gears are very wide.
