Sooooooo 2013 season has officially begun for me now with the first shoot knocked out. Up till now I have been shooting a lot f boring corporate work for Nissan and a few other dealerships locally to pay the bills but it was about time I got a set up here this year.
So this meeting between Fernando and I has been in the works since late last season when he had contacted me about photographing his car. It finally came to fruition this week after having three weeks of rain delays! Our plan was for him to leave Toronto around 4 o'clock AM to be able to get to Kingston with enough time to get some good sunrise shots as I have never actually been up early enough with a car to do so. The quality of light in the morning really is something spectacular and gives an entirely different feel than the photos I've taken at sunset. Anyways, long story short it was Tuesday night and we were finally a go for weather the next day.
I got the text at 5a.m. that Fernando was nearing the car wash i had directed him to when he got in town so I packed up and rolled out to meet him.
I honestly don't think I have ever hit so many different spots in Kingston all in one day, and seeing as the nature of the shoot was only one day it really worked out great. First time I had been back to Wolfe Island to shoot with the windmills since years and years ago as some of you will remember the set I did with JDMR OG's Rish and Rafl. The weather held up for us the entire day, and I couldn't be happier with how the set turned out.
Fernando is A++ peoples and it was awesome to finally meet another avid poster from JDMR that I could never put a face to the name. There were many edits so check out my FlickR for the full set....I only post about 15 of my favorites below.
Comments and Criticism are welcome as per usual, thanks for your time looking guys hope you enjoy!

Here are some of my favorites from the set:
First shot of the morning bright and early at 5:45am....no manicuring of the sun/flare was done here, all natural.

Teknotiks's cars > Teknotik's big *** decals.
I have never understood why they need windshield banners plastered all over the sponsored cars....less is more people.
But the photographer is on-point.

Amazing shots man, apparently your no stranger to using a camera, lol. Lighting is perfect and those natural lense flares are siiiick.
got a question for ya about your rolling shots. how do you get them looking just as sharp/crisp as your stills? you use any kind of mount/stabilizer attached the car or anything along those lines to steady the camera? I live in Iowa and always have a hell of a time getting crisp rolling shots with our amazing roads we have here.

Thanks for the feedback guys, glad you like the shots.
As for the rolling shots honestly man it's all about trial and error. Yes I was hanging out the car, yes I know my camera well, but I am confident I could take crisp rollers with anyones camera. This is the only situation in which I will not shoot in full manual, set your camera to shutter priority, then play around with the speed of the car vs. the shutter speed vs. focal length vs. your shaky hand movements or bumps in the road. Start at about 1/120th of a second for a shutter speed and let your camera do the rest. Want more motion blur? Shots looking kind of frozen? Drag out the shutter a bit drop down to 1/80th of a second etc etc.
(P.S. Shutter priority labeled by TV on your dial if your shooting Canon just so you know) (P.P.S I am shooting with a 5DmkII at 20mm on my wide angle 20-35mm f2.8L if your wondering)
Usually I would have had a bunch of rig shots to post as well but my old rig is out of commission and the new one is still on the way but that's a whole other ball game!
Hope that helps man, PM me some shots of your results and trust me our Canadian roads could rival that of the worst in the US I'm sure!
