d16z6 swap help
I'm getting a 90 civic hatch 5spd with d15xx but i was wondering if my D16Z6 out of my wrecked coupe will plug and play or is it more complicated than that and where do i start?
I'm currently working on a similar project. I'm putting an SOHC ZC into a '90 EF hatch and using spare parts from my wrecked EG.
Assuming its a juice trans with the Z6, you'll need a trans mount conversion kit. I got mine from Hasport (http://hasport.com/store/index.php/m...-ef/efdhc.html) and you'll also need to move the frame mount for the trans over about an inch (theres already holes drilled in the frame to move it)
I'm not sure on the axles, the Z6 axles off my wrecked EG are a little shorter than the ones from the EF, so I'll be tackling that problem when I get that far.
From what I understand, the wiring harness has to be rigged together using differnent sections from the Z6/ZC and the EF.
Would greatly appreciate input from someone more experienced!

1. take the engine mounts off the old D and put them on the new D.
2. as said, if you use the Z6 trans you will need a conversion kit (cable to hydro).
3. use your old D fuel injectors and keep the resistor box
4. your old distributor will not work.
5. covert the distributor plugs for the new distributor
6. get a obdo to obd1 conversion harness, this is for connecting the cabin harness connectors to the d16z6 ecu.
7. most kits include a subharness for vtec
8. the subharness kit also includes wires for a 4wire o2 sensor
9. 4 wire o2 sensor
10. the subharness kit also has two wires which need to be connected when checking cel lights and or adjusting the timing (Rywire subharness)
while you have the engine out change the water pump, timing belt, tensioner, rear main seal, and oil pan gasket, also resurface the flywheel and replace the clutch.

I've been slowly working on getting mine up and running, and found a solution to the wiring harness issue. Rywire makes a full harness for Z6/ZC into EF. They have 2 models, one all black, and one with colored wires ($300 and $500 respectively)
I'm in the process of rigging mine together myself, but its always good to have a backup plan if something goes wrong. They also make an obd0 to obd1 adapter with the VTEC subharness and 4 wire o2 sensor wires.
