Default 1990 Honda Civic Wagon - Starts Then Dies (Sometimes Idles)

Hello HT,

I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem for a month or so now..

As you know its a 1990 Honda Civic Wagon with a D15B2 DPFI Stock...

I purchased it about 2-3 Months prior to this and it ran fine for me, I took 3-4 3 Hour Trips with it and no issues..

One day while driving normally it began to jerk and the rpm would spike down real low sometimes to 0 and the car would die..Again Sometimes (Its usually different each time)

I checked the fuel pump and everything is fine, Checked the Main Relay and the Soldering seems fine and I do hear it click when the ignition is turned, the Dizzy and Spark Plugs and wires were changed not to long ago, I changed the Head Gasket, and Oil.

It still ran the same after all of that so I put some Fuel Cleaner in the Tank and Put some fresh gas in it and it ran GREAT..for 2 Days straight, then on the way to work the next day it just totally died on me like before with the jerking and rpm drop..

I thought it was a fuel problem so I checked the DPFI Unit and I see that its getting gas just fine, it seems that it isn't get enough spark or something..

So I have been told to change a few things here and there like Dizzy, Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Ignition Switch...That reminded me that when I got the car the key seemed hard to turn when it placed in the lock cylinder, It seems very hard to turn like it roughly snaps over into Accessory Mode and when you go to turn it on while its on the Cylinder is very loose inside where you can move it maybe 1/4inch back and forth.

I don't know if that could be an issue or not I am looking into getting a new key made for it to see if that will make a difference, but if ANYONE has ANY ideas what so ever let me have them, I am ready to have this car back on the road..

Thanks

Have you gotten any check engine lights?

Have you tested your crankshaft position sensor?

I have no check engine lights at all what so ever. I have not tested the crankshaft position sensor, How would I go about doing that?
