Default Fog light lens reflector necessary?

Ok so I had a question about wether the piece of metal on this lense of a 92-96 oem prelude fog light reduces or hinders the total output of light? I know in headlights they reflect the light bacwards into the housing so it focuses the light downward instead of up and into oncoming traffic.

Basically I want to know if i remove them will my light output be better period?

On my 94' 4th gen vtec model prelude the fog lights are lower then the radiator on the bottom of the bumper. On a lowered car there maybe 6inches off the pavement so im not worried about blinding on coming traffic with them.

Even if they do shoot light up I were i live there are alot of non-lit back roads. I could only turn them on with my brights.

So if other drivers on the road are not a concern, will there be benefits from removing this?

I hope I explained things well enough, its the silver part that covers half of the glass lens. Thanks in advance!

-This is a broken lens but serves purpose of the picture

-One of my fogs were broke, and I found a guy on CL that had a broken set. So I bought his two and a Jdm tweeter switch for only $30! Hell I would have paid over $30 just for the switch lmao!
