B16a wet nitrous met piston rings at 9000 rpm???
I don't have a lot of time to do my research. I am competing with stock mustangs with my built up motor but I want that extra boost to win some races. I am still doing the turbo next month but a guy offered me a wet nitrous system for 300 bucks plus the subs and box out of my trunk. They are old anyway. My Honda mechanic advised me against it because we built the engine up for a turbo not nos. plus he said that a 75 shot can melt the rings at 9000 rpms and that's why people don't run nos in a b16. Any thoughts? I am supposed to go meet the guy and make the trade in 3 hours. It's out of a turbo skyline and I thought maybe I can continue to use it with my turbo set up at lower shot to combat turbo lag.
I think your Honda mechanic might have seen Fast And Furious one too many times. Did he tell you that you were going to blow the welds on the intake as well?

subscribed, this ought to get interesting, so you want to dump a bunch of nitrous in your engine but dont have time to do the research and tune, because you have to race STOCK mustangs? I would say a 400 shot would be ok, and you dont need that extra fuel, thats just a myth, it should go fast for a few seconds at least, once

someone please move this to GDD, it's too good to close, if it's there we can all make comments on it
This is just new to me. I have an opportunity to buy a kit tonight and I don't want to make a mistake. No what I mean guys. I know nos is common in racing. My papa has run 150 shot in his f150 for years. I just don't want to screw my baby when I have so much wrapped up in it.

You guys aren't too friendly to those that are new to things. I don't know anything about running wet nitrous in a b16a. If this was a 302 I would not think twice about it.

then why are you in such a hurry to slap this on? if you think it's a good deal buy it, do your research, and if you dont want to run it, flip it and get your money back

it's because he wants to rush and throw this on so he can race rusttangs, if there is that much work in the motor, then he should take the time to do his research, which he said he doesnt have time for, if he had come on here and said, I want to get this NOS kit, and i want to see what I have to do first, but he said I want to put this on, and dont have much time for research, that equates to I want to slap on a turbo but I dont want to search to se what I'm doing first, just tell me how to throw it on so I can race
Get a wet shot if its that much of a hurry to you
75 shot b16 will do fine..
Hell I had a 100 and 125 on my itr a few years back.. Just do a single nozzle wet shot since tuning isn't something you can to research.
quick and easy.

I am not in rush to put it on. I don't know whether I should buy the sytem. If it was useless for the b16 I would waste my money. I am asking you guys if it is a good investment for a b16a. I guess I wasn't clear

My Mechainc made it sound like it was a bad idea to buy and run all together. If it won't hurt, I will buy it and do my research as to what I can run and how to tune. I am not an idiot. What I was saying in my first post was that this is where I am at, is this a good idea to buy? Not I am about to have a race and need to have this s
Hooked up ASAP.

I went ahead and bought it. I basically stole it from this 15 year old for 250. I convinced him that he botched the wires pretty bad when he took it out of his skyline. Anyway why does a 15 year old have a skyline? So he can drive it down his driveway? And you guys are no help what so ever!!!

you said in the very first post that you were in a rush to install the system because you had a race to beat Mustangs THIS weekend, then you tried to say you werent in a hurry, dont try to edit what you said because it's already quoted, your mechanic is an idiot,a 75 shot of NOS is going to melt your rings, yet he is going to install a turbo on your car? whats it going to do cause the intake to melt?
I never said that I was in a rush to install. I was in a rush buy. Read it again. I was not very clear that I had raced the mustang the night before. I was trying to tell you where I was at and where I was going in the next couple of weeks. Don't tell me what I was trying to say and call me a liar. My first post wasn't very clear and you all took it way wrong.

and he has a skyline because he can stop being all shitty.
its obvious you know nothing about research because if you did then you would already know that these motors dont really benefit from nitrous, and benefit greatly from a turbo.
it took you longer to make some stupid posts on here than it would have to research

better investment is subject, nitrous is leaps and bounds cheaper then turbo or supercharger setups, and can yield a variety of power gains across the board. It is far superior to a supercharger setup in every way, and probably is one of the single most common honda mods on the planet, turbo coming in at a close second and supercharger being dead last. There's more all motor setups making more power than supercharger setups in this day and age.
