Smoke from vent/ Will NOT start
I searched and haven't seen anything like this. I was driving one day and the rpm's started to drop. I stepped on the gas but nothing still. Radio was still on. As that happend a tiny puff of smoke which smelled weird came out of the vents. I tried to jump it, spray starter fluid in the intake, fuel pump works.. no spark at the plugs. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this problem before or ever experienced it before. I recently bought a new dizzy and wires so it was weird that it happend. A freind said he thinks its the dizzy, I'm wondering where the smoke came from. Any input or advice is greatly appreciated, thanks
"Weird" isn't very descriptive. Coolant? Gas? Oil? Wires? What did it smell like?
Where did you buy this distributor? Which B16 do you have? What ECU are you using? Did you replace the wiring harness, or use the factory one?

smoke, no spark? check fuses, then i would check igniter in the dizzy. i had the same issue once, driving down road and car shut off. it was my igniter in the dizzy.
Checked fuses, Seem to be good. Damn did smoke come through your vents? Buddy of mine told me the SAME thing happend, smoke and all. He bought a new dizzy for 200$ from pep boys and it worked fine after. Sucks This dizzy is only a few months old but i bought it offline...never again lol. Im wondering If I should get a new dizzy or just igniter, hmmmm.... Cause if i bought a new dizzy....It'd be under warranty for a couple years

You said the fuel pump worked. Does that mean you listened to the pump prime, or you checked pressure? What was the smoke from? Did it smell like oil, gas, electrical? Was there any harness work? No spark is the first problem, Distributor King has worked well for me always, but hey. Is there a dizzy you can just try? If it just starts, then you found it. If not though; well no sense in just throwing money at it.
Readings? I didnt test the dizzy. And the smoke just smelled funny...nt like gas or oil. maybe like how brakes are when they're new and youre breaking them in. Fuel pump primed and we sprayed starter fluid in the intake and still didnt work. The swap was a jdm b16a with harness, ecu, everything. And yeah if this dizzy breaks too then there's something else wrong

I would check the distributor. Sounds like the smell was electrical. Look around in the dash, and also the harness. Maybe by a long shot, you might find a shorting wire that is responsible for the dying distributors. And if you don't feel like testing the distributor, just buy one to see. Then get back to us.
Yeah I'm heading up there in a minute to buy one, I'll let you know how it goes
Still if it's burning through them, you don't have a clean circuit going to it and you need to find out if it's overamped (I think it's amps, might be not enough resistance)
Where would those wires be located at?? I hope not under the dash :/ That seems like a bitch to get to
