Default '09 element lurch fwd while coasting - caused accident

Today while I was pulling into a parking spot (with my wheel still turned) my element jolted fwd as if I slammed on the gas causing my left front bumper to hit the back right of the car parked in front of me. My foot was not on the gas when this happened. by the time i got to the break i had already hit the car. Some forums say it could be an engine computer issue. Anyone heard of this happening or have a better way to describe what might be wrong to my insurance company?

I would not only report this to your insurance, but to the ntsb, you are not the first person to have this issue, this could be the start of a recall

Yes manual trans.

Here's the only detail i found online that sounds similar to what happened:

Engine

-Some vehicles move faster than expected from a high cold idle when the vehicles in gear and without stepping on the accelerator. A Honda software update will fix.

I just spoke to the body shop and they said my car's black box will tell my insurance company exactly what happened at the time of the crash, and my insurance company should be all over it so they can get reimbursed for fees.

toyota had this issue too, and the opposite issue of the car not accelerating for 10-15 seconds when you press the gas, if this is a problem caused by the car, you should get every dime back that you pay out

I love the old cable throttle bodies. They work only when you want them to.

why I always push in my clutch while turning into a lot. You can't guarantee the RPM's at that time as at least on the older engines it could be anywhere between 500 to 1500 depending on the temperature of the engine.

at 1500 rpm a manual transmission can take you for a ride in 1st gear.
