Default Si tranny.... is it dead or not??

k heres another ******* deal..... pissis me off....
anyways,... i was going to work started the car and i noticed that the shifter was kinda stucked...then it will not go into R..... it went into 1st.. well it was kinda taking off hard... then i tried to shift into 2nd and it feels that theres no 2nd at all... doesnt even go into 2nd...(feels like not having a 5th on the 4 speed)....the shifter feels hard and even if its on neutral the car still moves if i let the clutch go...the gear that its stuck its 2nd,...i had to drive it to work like that.... it just like driving on 2nd without moving the shifter..even while driving i can move the shifter around over the rest of the gears.... i need to rebuild this tranny, buy a new one or get a DX one for free... i called a friend and he tol me he might get me a SI one.. or if he cant , he will get me a DX one for free... its the ratios on the DX and SI the same?? can i change the final drive off the SI onto the DX tranny? i need options... i still got my 4 speed, but theres no way i want to put that **** bacn in there....... i need help on this... i know theres some people around here that know about tranny's....please help out.....

I dunno if this is your prob too, but my frend had that problem with his B16 Cable tranny, it ended up to be his shift linkage needed re-adjustment or a screw fell out of the shift linkage or something. Anyways, check the linkage.

if you cant get into gear and it feels like its locking out, try rev matching. once you rev match and you are able to get into gear you'll know your syncros are shot. also there is a slight change your throw out berring is fuct.

dx and si trans have the same gear ratios but the si has a larger final drive (or its smaller i dont remember :shrug

so can you move your shifter around completely? like a joystick? coz if you can, then your linkage may have fallen off your car...i'm sure you've already done this, but you might want to jack up your car and look at your shift linkage to see if its on correctly. i had that problem a while ago, i was driving around and my shift linkage just fell apart on me-luckily i was in third gear so i made it home...but anyway, just check out your linkage
