Default JDM gauge cluster

I have been having trouble with my gauges being inaccurate and wanted to either buy a new cluster or a JDM one (obviously toooo pricey for me tho) but there is one for sale locally for a decent price... He says it came out of a running car etc...

What should I look for before buying this cluster? I know nothing about the JDM EG6 clusters.. Is it plug and play? Thanks

remove the old one and install the new one. plug and play nothing should give you any problems..

Let me guess, your tachometer is completely inaccurate, right?

YUP the tach is off and it drives me crazy.. I know it's common with these cars but heard the JDM ones didn't have the same issues (I hope that's true)

If the rpm gauge drove you crazy then I guess reading in KM's and the fuel gauge will drive you crazy as well.

See. That's what I was thinking as well and was wondering why the OP was even considering it.

The KMs don't bother me, but what is different about the fuel gauge? The reason the tach drove me crazy is vtec crossover is way off and my redline is very inaccurate. I have trouble shifting where I should at the track and don't want to install a gaudy tach for an all stock interior.

Won't get any better with a different cluster. The tachs are notorious for being inaccurate.

Nothing for a stock interior. You gotta being willing to get an aftermarket gauge. They don't have to be monster tachs either.

I saw a mod where the guy replaced the tach in the cluster with an aftermarket one. It looked clean.

my jdm white face reads dead on.
If i hook up my snap on solus up to the service connector and watch the rpms and speed, they match the jdm cluster to almost exact figures.

my hatch originally had a d16z6 and with the stock cluster it read vtec at 4k and cut off at 6500

replaced it with jdm eg one and it read vtec at 4800 and cut off at 7400 so now with the h22 swap it is still dead on reading 5200 vtec and cut off at 7800

you just have to get used to the km/h

i agree completely. I must say, Every single usdm original cluster i have ever had read way off on the rpms...

all the jdm clusters i ever have had read perfect sooo.. maybe it is just the usdm ones that suck?

My jdm cluster reads DEAD on as well. Have had 5 now in different cars. All were the same as far as accuracy. Usdm ones on the other hand ^

Reading in km/h is not all that different than in mph. You know the normal typical everyday speed limits, once you converted, you remember them....not that hard. There was a few times I whipped out my phone and did the math real quick. x .621

Still curious what the issue with reading the gas gauge was about? You deplete gas, the needle goes down....hmmmm
