Icon3 SOLD: 1990 Civic Hatch Apex Pearl Blue with B Series Swap

SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD

Car: 1990 Honda Civic standard hatch. 142,xxx miles.
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Asking Price: $4,000 OBO
Trades: I would prefer to sell the car outright but trades I might consider would be:

RWD Corolla wagon
Civic wagon
Woodworking tools
Fab tools such as a nice MIG welder/pasma cutter/bender etc.
Possibly even a full size work van or older 1 ton truck

Contact: email me at saxicolinejohn@gmail.com or PM me. We can then initiate phone conversations from there.

A full set of pictures (including ones from the build) can be seen here:

https://picasaweb.google.com/1029673...63719253/Civic

I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that it is time to part ways with my EF hatch. A job change, living somewhere without a garage, and my hopes of someday being a small business owner are the reasons this car is up for sale. I built this car with the goal of creating an all-around all purpose vehicle that can do everything from track days to long road trips to daily driving. This car is solid and has been driven across the country (I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again). The non-vtech engine and many of the mods were chosen because my intention was to eventually boost the car. All of the supporting mods are there; all the car needs is a fuel pump, injectors, and a turbo system to be a reliable (and well performing) turbo car. I have owned the car for 3 years and the “build” has been complete for about a year with probably about 5K miles on it.

VIN: 2HGED6349LH564372. Clean title in my possession. No known accidents.

NO A/C OR PS: I bought the car this way and didn’t care because I wanted plenty of room for a turbo

Mods:
Engine
B18A1 (pulled from a wrecked automatic car with about 90K)
Valve cover sandblasted and coated in clear high temp engine enamel (cover was also cut for cam gear access)
Cometic head gasket
ARP head studs
Golden Eagle Fuel Rail
Aeromotive A1000 FPR with stainless braided lines & AN fittings
Summit fuel pressure gauge
Skunk2 adjustable cam gears
3” intake with K&N filter
New OEM water pump
New OEM Oil pump
New OEM timing belt
Mishimoto silicone hose kit
(2) Permacool 10” high cfm fans (one set as a puller, one set as a pusher)
Innovate LC-1 wide band oxygen sensor with A/F gauge (gauge is mounted in the dash near the ignition switch)
New OEM thermostat
P06 ECU chipped with Moates Honda kit (allows you to burn your own chips and tune with a variety of programs). Currently running a stock B18A1 map.

Exhaust
Skunk2 Alpha stainless header
High flow cat
The entire exhaust is mandrel bent, 2.5” stainless
14” Magnaflow resonator
22” Magnaflow muffler (super quiet)

Transmission
Y1 cable transmission
Short shift kit
Professionally disassembled and inspected before installation in car
Factory LSD
Competition Clutch Stage 4 clutch
Competition Clutch lightweight steel flywheel
Honda fluids

Brakes
DA Integra front discs
DA Integra rear discs
New rotors (x4)
Hawk HPS pads
Fastbrakes stainless braided lines
Remanufactured calipers painted silver with high temp caliper paint

Suspension
DA Integra front knuckles
Skunk2 adjustable front UCA’s
New OEM tie rods
Full (whole car) Energy Suspension bushing kit (black graphite impregnated bushings)
Progress Technology series II coil-overs (350 lb. springs front & rear)
Rear sway bar added off another Honda
Innovative competition traction bar
Professionally aligned after suspension work

Exterior
Professionally painted Honda apex blue pearl (Honda CR S2000 color) in 2011 including engine bay and jambs
New OEM front bumper cover
New OEM front turn signals
Carbon hood painted to match car
New OEM side moldings
New OEM glass trim on hatch and both doors
New OEM driver’s side door hinges (bad pins were making it sag a tiny bit)
New OEM rear bumper cover
New OEM rear badge
Euro sidemarkers
New windshield

Interior
EF Civic SI front and rear seats
NRG short hub adapter
NRG quick release steering wheel hub
Knock off spoon sports steering wheel
Buddy club shift ****
Kenwood head unit
Kicker DS Series front door speakers
Custom/hidden fuel pump kill switch
Car has rear cargo cover (from what I understand these are hard to find)

Misc.
Many of the suspension parts have been sandblasted and painted with POR15 rust prohibitive paint
Fresh undercoating
Custom welded battery tie down and box in hatch
Carpeted plywood shelf in rear to cover spare tire well

I have over $10,000 in receipts not including the cost of the car! These will be given to the new buyer. I built this car with the intention of owning it for decades and I tried to source OEM for every part that was replaced. I also have some small spare parts (many new in packaging) that will come with the car (extra valve cover, rear hatch center panel, lots of new seals, clips, A/C bracket and other stuff). The car is not perfect (in my eyes no vehicle ever is), and have a few recommendations for the new owner:

Stiffer exhaust doughnut bushings: During hard cornering or large bumps the exhaust tubing will rub slightly on the rear sway bar due to movement. The muffler is massive and kinda heavy, and is probably what is causing this. A different aftermarket sway bar might also be a solution.

Interior swap: The original interior was blue and I started swapping pieces to black but I haven’t been able to find a full SI interior swap yet. The current interior is complete but the dash has a few cracks and there are some screw holes from where the previous owner installed tweeters. There is also a crack in one of the rear speaker shelves. It does have nice black carpet though!

Shifter bushing: there is a slight buzz during highway driving from the shifter touching the shift gate. It could also be part of the short shift kit making noise. It doesn’t affect drivability, it is just annoying. I haven’t had a chance to pull the console off and take a peek, but if the opportunity presents itself before the car sells, it will be replaced.

Props for all the hard work & invested money.
Anyone who's build a decent car should be able to see the time/money invested.

$6K is high just because people will be able to get into decently clean eg/ek with bvtec swaps, but just hold out for the right EF fan/buyer.

GLWTS homie

Charlie

Thanks man! There is a lot of patience and late nights in this car! Looking through the classifieds at the other for sale ads I didn't quite realize just how much car you can buy for $6K. Should have bought one instead of building lol. I am up against some stiff competition to say the least. However, even if I received my asking price I'm still losing a substantial sum of money so I've got to try...

BUMP!!! Still can't believe the lack of interest in this car. Whoever ends up with this car is going to get an awesome deal. I'm mainly interested in cash but *Might* also consider a trade for a fox body mustang.

Feel free to go build a similar car and then let me know what your receipts add up to. Then put it up for sale for well below half of your investment so I can make snide remarks about it.

Like the paint color. I had a b18a in a car as well with over 15k invested in total car and suspension and I sold it for 3500 just to give you an idea. My engine was built as well for turbo.

Sucks you have to get rid of her, looked like a fun project. GLWS for a fellow EF owner.

Thanks guys! I wish I could keep it (who wants to lose tons of money and let go of endless hours of hard work?) but times are tight right now and I'm trying to think long term and act responsibly. I'd love to keep it and do something like put a F series turbo motor together.

It took me 9 months to sell my ITR swapped DA. I had just dropped almost $5,000 on the motor, trans, ecu, jumper, ect. Ect. I ended up letting it go for $4,500 with a starting price of $5,500. Just be patient it takes time, advertising every where you can, and the right person to come along that is looking for your particular car. You have a very clean well put together car someone will come along. GLWS again nicely done!
