My 1st and 2nd gear are harder to go into than they used to be. Sometimes, I have to try a few times to get it to go into first. The other gears are fine. I just had the tranny flushed and refilled with MTF last saturday and the problem persists. I am guessing synchros or shift fork but would like some other opinions.

 

Sounds to me like dying syncros. Im by no means a tranny expert though... Contact Mista Bone on this board. Im pretty sure he knows a lot about trannies.

Well, if it was the synchros, wouldnt it make a grinding noise when trying to go into a gear? It doesnt grind at all, just kinda stiff going into 1st and 2nd gear. What are the symptoms of a bad shift fork?

 

I have the same prob with first (rarely) and second, frequently. I also believe it might be the synchros, however it might be the throwout bearing as other gears give me some BS, occassionally.

 

synchro or sleeve; same thing happened to me for 3rd and 4th gear.
