If you put new wheels and tires and suspension your going to need an alignment.

alignment done last year with coilovers. you dont need an alignment for wheel replacement because there is a change to total height not suspension height. suspension height is what changes the camper and toe.

i have a torn cv boot but cv joint unremarkable and silent. i thought maybe a bent axle but unlikely per above remarks. possible transmission mount is my next thought, violent movement from shifter/**** under acceleration

Sorry miss read the OP.

Might sound dumb but did you have your tires balanced? And yes it could also be a bad axle.

new wheels 2 weeks ago, tires mounted and balanced thursday, put on yesterday. i figured if axle bad then coasting in gear would be bumpy too, its absolutely smooth

casually while swapping the wheels, it looked in tact though. i have a full poly inser kit though and only have drive and pass mptor mount inserts in.. i just took an on ramp and i thought it felt better but ill wait to the next one to confirm that. i down shifted to 3rd just now and felt like the car would shake apart, engine braking is fine though

vcome to think of it, its been going on for a while, several months i believe, i dont really remember exactly when it started. my ej hatch IS my daily driver, it saw 9000 miles last months alone for work. im consider swapping to form functions soon. ive been running racelands with stock s2k springs and extended hats, its fairly comfortable as a retain the properties of a linear spring. i think tonight im going to order a full tie rod set, i swapped 1 out almost 2 years ago due to an issue like this and got the car aligned. for a 96 ive owned about 3 years it was in need of love when i got it and ive just been getting by keeping it running. i recently did the head gasket and poly mount inserts a few years ago because the driver side kept erupting and oil would be everywhere. i think i'll invest in new axels while im at it. i'd love a cx swap though, or was it hx, i cant remember off hand but the one e-vtec that gets around 50mpg highway stock. my tranny os on its way out anyways, i can only get 4th from 5th downshift and 5th pops out often. this will be my last honda toy, id like toget back to my wankel roots and build another fc33s, it was my 3nd car 11 years ago in high school and ive owned several, but i plan on having this hatch for another few years too, my 'marathon' car if you will.

Sounds like inner CV's, but an internal tranny problem could certainly be responsible. As easy as axles are to change, and as readily available as D series axles are, I'd start with the axles.

Ironically, my wankel experience is what got me started with Hondas. I blew an apex seal @ 98K miles on my 13B. I loved the car, but was really turned off by it's fragility. I replaced it with a '94 Si that I drove for 267K miles despite being vandalized regularly and stolen/gutted once.

+2 for inner cv. Jack the front one side at a time. Put car in gear and watch the joints wiggle.

should i jack it up by the arms? i tried that last week and didnt notice any wiggle. i wouldn't doubt something amiss with the tranny internally but
D16y5 VTEC-E is what im after anyways so i can grab the motor, tranny, harness and ecu im off to a good start

wanna take a second to thank everybody thus far for the ideas to check out.

Yes jack it up on the lower control arm close to the tire but not touching. Rev it a little, as the shake comes during acceleration.

Torn CV boot? repair, or replace axle. That is a timebomb waiting to go. When you accelerate, torque is being applied to that (ALL) driveshaft joints.Anything going bad in that visible joint will start showing up first.

so... im going down the freeway a few hours ago heading to work... the shake is there... the shake gets better and better and better, then it goes away, cars running great again... then it seems like the car pops out of 5th real easily, rpm jumps, speedo shoots past the max but no power... and thats the end of the of that sports fans, tranny is cooked, no 1st/2nd/3rd, grinds against 4th and 5th but will not engage. the past few months it lets go of 5th if im not holding the shifter and let off the gas, i can only use 4th downshifting from 5th and it lets out of 3rd too only 1st and 2nd were good. i looked it up and concluded input shaft may need replacing from the noise it made, a steady
