MY Honda crx idles at zero when it was idling at 500 rpm last week. My cluster also doesn't light up half way on the speedometer. the rest of the cluster does. and my cd player and cigarette car lighter doesn't work ether. im just saying this car has a lot of problems . My main concern is the rpm. i have a video just so you can see how it looks like

 

Have you checked fuses and wiring?

There's really not much else anyone can say, other than to check fuses and all of the wires/connections. If you can't find anything messed up, the cluster may have **** the bed.

A good first step might be to try another cluster if possible, that would either rule out the cluster right away, or fix the issue.

 

yeah man ill try that out. it sound like you know a lot about cars, so im gonna to take your advice

 

as long as you dont have a cel light you should still be able to pass smog. the rpm gauge doesnt determine if you pass smog or not.

 

it does it has to idle between 1000 or 500 i tried to smog it before and i failed because the rpm was over 2000 maybe it was just idling to high that time but i fixed it to idle at 500 and now its at zero.

 

Maybe so, but the tach has absolutely nothing to do with the engine's idle. All it does is tell you what the engine is doing. It's just a gauge, not a controller.
