Whole wheel barrels...let's find the distributor thread!

A lot of people want to get their wheels re-barreled, new lips, etc...but let's be serious, most of these places want an ARM and a LEG to provide you with this service. My thinking is that if we can find out who's making them and try to go through them directly we all could save a **** load of money, by cutting out the middle man. Now I understand these companies want to make some money but they're raping us on pricing and refuse to work on prices. You can basically get a 3-piece wheel from anywhere from $350 to $500, right? But to get your wheel re-lipped or full barrels it's anywhere from $350 to $500 with no hardware or centers, to me this makes no fiscal sense, and there has to be a company out there that will sell them for a reasonable price.
So if you know anything or want to contribute to this thread feel free to. Also, on a side note the barrels don't even need holes, you can very easily take them to a machinist shop and get them drilled for dirt cheap.

I guess Kodiak quit selling barrels, inner and outer. They were decently priced, what I consider fair.
Araya wanted to charge me $1600 just to do full barrels they are hell of expensive. I'll email them again, maybe there was a misunderstanding.
Like I said mad cash, and there has to be another way.
I actually texted them, and still had the old text from Araya, it was $1600. < This is why I want to find the wholesaler....
Appears they sell shells for their own wheels.. But clearly states on the page
> Aftermarket replacement wheel shells
"We are no longer producing aftermarket replacement shells including BBS RS and RM wheels."
Unfortunately people may see these prices are outrageous, but you have to think what is going into this process.. You are dealing with a company that will usually deal in spinning rim shells for 100+ piece orders, and setting up a machine to make 2-4 pieces at a time involves much more labor (thus a higher cost).
Its not quite as simple as dictating wheel size, and bolt count. Many other things come in to play such as center hole size, bolt spacing, etc. The $1600 ($200 per part) seems very reasonable to me for a one off/custom made rim shell.
Hopefully this adds some insight
