Default First time swapping my engine (ej2 gsr swap)

What's up Hondatech! Finally after a long time time of research it's time to swap out my engine. Lets get started!

Here's the scenario:

I've got a 1995 Honda Civic DX EJ2. I currently have a SOHC NON VTEC ZC in my car right now. My plan is to throw a B18C1 GSR into my car. I am hoping that I can find an OBD1 GSR instead of an OBD2 GSR to make my life easier when it comes time for the change over. I've read countless times that an OBD1 GSR will be plug n play for an EG/EJ etc but seeing how it is super hard to find an OBD1 USDM GSR; I wanted to make sure that I have all my information correct for an OBD2 GSR since I can find these easier. Here we go! It is to my understanding that in order for me to be successful with the OBD2 GSR swap I would need to do the following(and this is one way of doing it that I think is right but correct me if I'm wrong):

This is for an OBD2 GSR ENGINE(with all OBD2 components such as injectors, dizzy, alternator etc)
1)OBD2 GSR complete gsr engine
2)OBD1 GSR engine harness
3)OBD1 harness to OBD2 Injector adapter(http://www.rywire.com/catalog/obd1-h...ters-p-36.html)
4)OBD1 to OBD2 10-pin Distributor Adapter(http://www.rywire.com/catalog/obd1-t...pter-p-42.html)
5)OBD0 & OBD1 chassis to OBD2 Alternator Adapter(http://www.rywire.com/catalog/obd0-o...pter-p-34.html)
6)P72 OBD1 ECU
7)OBD1 & OBD2 VTEC SUBHARNESS(http://www.rywire.com/catalog/obd1-o...ness-p-18.html)

**Of course I will be needing the obvious stuff like axles, mounts etc. I already know that. Besides the list above; Do I need anything else? Let me know. I want this to be legit as possible come the time I get this thing Reffed. The reason why I want to use these adapters is so I wont have to go through the wiring process or have to buy all OBD1 injectors, dizzy and alternator and plus I want it to be super clean and not have any amateur soldering done by myself. PLEASE, don't hesitate to tell me if I have my words twisted. I am here to learn and to most importantly get this done the correct way. Hopefully this will be a helpful thread for someone else with the same situation as me

*edit here's a picture of my Ej2 for fun:

If you do get an obd2 gsr motor and its fr the states and come with a harness you can use it as long as it is not cut. If it is then you can get a harness from a 96-01 integra. This makes it plug and play. You won't need to buy distributor, injectors or alt adapters. The only things that will need to be wired is VTec,iab and knock sensor. You can still use the obd1 gsr ecu.

LEGIT! That's some good news and it will save me a grip of money. Why are some people saying that you need to change over the OBD2 to OBD1 components such as the dizzy, alternator, and injectors like in this thread: (https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/obd2-engine-obd1-car-3074759/) That's where I get confused. I think that we should get this all cleared up for future references.

the 94-01 integra uses the same harness as the 92-95 civic only difference is that the 96-01 integra uses obd2 distributor, alt and injectors and has a crank sensor by the crank pulley. The engine harness from these cars are plug and play. So you can put an obd2 motor in the 92-95 civic without cutting plugs or buying adapters plugs.

There other way to put an obd2 motor in an obd1 civic is by swapping the distributor, alt and injectors from let say a b-series as there all the same only difference is the plugs, from an obd1 b-series motor.

The only things that need to be wired in the 92-95 civic is VTec,iab and knock sensor. The iab and knock are only needed if using a gsr(p72) ecu,if using a p28,p06 then only VTec will need to be wired and the use of a after market intake manifold needs to be used, like skunk2 or blox.

Thanks man! So pretty much my only purchase from rywire could be the subharness? You seemed to answer most of my questions and confirmed a whole lot. This helps so much!

Yes sir, that is the only thing you need to buy from rywire. That is why he made that sub harness. No problem man. I don't mind helping when I can.

I'm glad that he did. Makes life easier. Now time to find a USDM B18c1. The search continues

The motor can be a jdm but the harness needs to be from a USdm car. If you get an obd1 motor the harness in your car now will work, but a few wire might need to be extended.

This is true but the reason why I want USDM is for Reffing reasons. The law states that in CA that the vehicle has to be USDM in order to be legal. There's other information regarding legalization but that's the jest of it.

Gotcha. In New York we don't got to worry about that stuff for obd1 cars.

You guys are so lucky! The emission laws here in CA are pretty damn strict. I'm sure you might know that by now. Everyone on HT complains about how crappy and stupid the laws are over here. You can get away from it by registering your car in another state and or just move out of CA but I can't really complain because the weather out here is amazing.
