HELP PLEASE!!!Accord won't idle for more than five minutes
I have a 1997 Accord with non-vtec four cylinder h22 me thinks. Anyway, me and my pops replaced the distributor without marking its original location on the mount, and didn't replace the o-ring as the manual recommended (figured these things out after the fact) to make matters more complicated we went ahead and installed new lower seals (the ones under the rocker arm assembly) and messed around and took the bolts that hold it together out then put it back together and installed it, we did follow the torque specs using a breaker bar save the bolts on the distributor mount, then we replaced the spark plugs with NGK types and put the valve cover back on and started her up for a while with a triumphant poop eating grin as we did all this in under a hour. The next day the car will idle for a spell, then bog down and cut off. We thought the timing was screwed up so were trying to find the VECI labels to check but they've been conveniently ripped the F*** off the hood. I'm trying to drive this thing home from s. illinois to chicago tomorrow. Can someone please give me some help here? I know I needed to RTFM but this is a father-son team of hereditary stubborn temperament. Lesson learned...
We manually pulled the engine around to TDC, how do we know what the distributor should be positioned to in order to be aligned with the engine? Can I get any help from anyone please? Its really hard to find information on this subject.
I honestly tried to read that twice and was able to grab absolutely no information from it.
The dizzy doesn't have teeth? Pictures?

When you take the rocker arm assembly off the engine, assuming you did not attempt to adjust the valves, you do not need to do anything as far as for putting the car to tdc at all. The only issue you could have is if you attempted to put the distributor in 180 degrees off...this is possible if you attempt to jam the distributor into the head without lining up the offet slot on the shaft to the offset slot in the distributor. They are both designed to be slightly offset so you can only put it in one way. Perhaps this is what happened when you say the teeth on the dizzy were eaten off.
Pictures about what you're saying happened would be useful here. You can use photobucket.
