HELP! 'Lude won't run - 5th gen
OK I am hoping someone out there can help me out with this.
I was driving on the highway the other day when I noticed my tachometer drop from around 4k to 1k. I shifted out of gear and I hit the gas to see if the engine was still on and I got nothing. I then put the car back in gear(at this point I am still coasting) and released the clutch. The forward momentum of the vehicle turned the engine but it would not run.
My car will not start, I have gotten it to run-like-**** a couple times with my TPS unplugged, but won't start every time it's unplugged. I replaced my TPS thinking it could have failed, still having the same issue.
My CEL is not on and only illuminates if I have something unplugged.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
I have air, fuel and spark, I can't seem to figure this one out

Try your ecu if you happen to have a buddy that can lend you one try and plug it in n check if it turns on my buddy had a problem like that on his ek it was his ecu somehow water from when he had his A/C on would leak from under the dash onto the ecu.
ECU crossed my mind immediately. Unfortunately I do not have a buddy with a 5th gen in the area. I have removed the kick plate so I could test some wires going into the ECU, and there is definitely no water damage. However, I am not eliminating a bad ECU as a possibility.
This is by far the strangest issue I have ever had with this car.

Hmm, after some thought, if you have a faulty main relay, then your ecu will act fucked up. Your car wont start and you will have all the syptoms indicating it should start, ie fuel, air, spark.
Beign taht you checke the coil, the dizzy and the tps and the setting os the tps, before yanking the pcm/ecm/ecu, check the main relay. As when they fail almost exactly what happend to you happens. good luck!!

Get an OBD2 scanner and plug it into your OBD2 port and read the codes. Sometimes there are errors that are basically still "pending" and haven't lit the CEL light yet. Also, you can check allsorts of sensor voltages and such to make sure everything is working properly.
Other than that, double and triple check the usual stuff... ditributor cap, wires, rotor, plugs, injectors, compression. Maybe even check your map sensor voltages.
